Yoga

Veronica Jones “So You’re here now, but that may change before you read the end of this bio.” One of today’s biggest challenges is staying focused, being present, and living in the now. Veronica’s Approach on the mat is focusing on this very moment, inviting challenge(s) for exploration, and embracing all experiences with full compassion. We (subconsciously) tend to apply negative connotation to the things we call challenging in life. Yet, we forget to remember that everything, which exists, is all based on a perception. Veronica first discovered Yoga through Acting and Movement classes at York University in 2001. Subsequently her desire to spread the seed of Yoga through teaching led her to India where she recently lived and studied at the Sivananda Ashram in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. This new certification along with her previous from Tula’s own 200 hour program in 2007, confirms that Veronica is dedicated to connecting all of her students with a sense of purpose and healing while bringing them back to balance.
Jane Danielson is drawn to teaching yoga from a desire to aid others in healing themselves and improving their quality of life. Jane likes to experiment with a variety of yoga styles and enjoys creating an environment of playfulness, trust and joy in her classes. Jane began her Yoga journey as a dance student at York University. She found Yoga to be a wonderful way to heal, balance and relax the body. At York her studies also included kinesiology and injury treatment and prevention, upon which Jane has based her mindful Yoga practice. Jane had the privilege to begin her teacher training in India with Yoga Vidya Gurukul and has continued to train with various masters such as Ramanand Patal, Hali Schwartz and Michael Siddal. She teaches yoga and dance to children and adults of all ages.
Rachael Fallon traveled to India in November 2004 to do her Teachers Training at the Sivanada Ashram in Kerala. She studied with 200 students from all over the world and spent 6 months visiting Temples, Ayurvedic centres, attending pujas and ancient Indian ceremonies, living in villages, guest houses, and the beaches of Goa, and Kerala. Since her return home in 2005 she has been teaching Hot Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha Flow, Power Yoga and have developed a Children's Program called YogisRus in Public Schools. Rachael believes that Yoga is a gift that the soul awaits and she introduces this jewel of transformation with grace. Her classes are modified for everyone's needs and she sees her students as her greatest teachers. Her love for Yoga and Transformation give way to her new found Yoga career and she continues to find knowledge in Yoga Vedanta and Healing Arts. In Yoga the mind and the heart are brought together creating equilibrium of the body, mind, and spirit.

In 2004, she became a graduated Kinesiologist with specialization in the field of Mind Science. In 2009, she co-founded Inspire Reach, which raises funds through karma yoga initiatives, dedicated to improve local and global communities. After raising $20,000 in its inaugural year, Inspire Reach is committed to raising $40,000 in 2010. In addition to teaching her classes, she has also been a faculty member of the yoga teacher-training program at Tula Yoga Studios since 2007. She is currently an ambassador for lululemon – Queen St. Grace believes the pursuit of a deeper yoga practice is the basis for the ultimate search and attainment of self-knowledge. This is the goal she encourages her students to explore in the safe environment she provides at Tula Yoga Studios.
Christine Ermen believes in a strong connection with the breath while being conscience and taking time to focus on the exchange of energy our body creates. Thinking of our breathe as our guide as we allow it to bring us deeper into our practice. Coming from a dance background, in 2003, Christine was introduced to yoga. While it took her a while to get a hang of things, within time, it became her new passion. Christine completed the 200 hour teacher training program at Tula Central in 2007. In 2008 she completed her level 1 teacher training with Sherry LeBlanc at Yoga for Children. In Spring 2010, Christine completed her Foundation/Level 1 Pilates Teacher Training at Tula Central. Shawna believes that yoga is not only a physical practice, but a way of life that allows the yogi to experience true peace, strength, and balance. After graduating from Tula's teacher training program in 2009, Shawna has become devoted to sharing her love of yoga with all those who attend her classes. The students, who take them, ranging from steady and meditative to vigorous, energetic vinyasa, inspire her classes. Shawna is grateful to have the opportunity to share yoga with others, and loves the welcoming atmosphere at the Tula studios.
Catrina Robey started practicing yoga in 2006 and quickly found peace in the connection between breath and movement in a heated environment. Since that time she has found many benefits from her practice. In 2009, she enrolled in and completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course at Tula Yoga Studio with Isabel Lambert. The knowledge this gave her has helped her practice grow and she enjoys sharing this with others through teaching. She has always loved the release yoga has provided as well as the continuous challenges. Catrina’s practice has taught her to focus more on the process and not the end result. This carries through not just in yoga but in the rest of her life as well.
Dorothy Leung was born and grew up on a tropical island called Saipan in the Western Pacific. Though she traded in her flip-flops to boots for her city life in Toronto, a piece of paradise remains with her. Naturally, the serenity of the beach created a platform for her to discover yoga. She began practicing yoga 7 years ago and is a graduate of the Tula Teacher Training program She is a certified Kinesiologist and a sports enthusiast. She has led corporate wellness programs and strives to make yoga accessible to all levels. Her experience in assessment of injuries and biomechanics of movement help lead a safe yet challenging practice. Her passions also include Latin dancing, fashion designing, and traveling. Combining her upbringing, degree, and interests, she draws on elements such as the meditative qualities of the ocean, the science of movement, and the fluidity of a dancer in her classes. She enjoys being a student as much as a teacher.
Jodi McLean first tried yoga in 2003 at the gym in her office building. The incorporation of yoga into her weekly routine was a blessing in disguise. Not only did yoga allow her to return to work in a better state of mind but her focus was amazing, lasting days at a time. Jodi was introduced to Tula a few years into her yoga journey. Her first class was in the hot room and she remembers how intense it was and how amazing she felt afterwards. She returned again and again, always allowing the instructors to guide her deeper with each class. In 2008, she decided to do something just for herself and signed on for the Teacher Training Program at Tula. After completing her training, Jodi wanted to share all the benefits of yoga with others and now teaches at Tula Central. Always looking to expand on her knowledge, she just recently completed her Yoga Kids Teacher Training and is currently working on her Pilates Intro/Foundation Level 1 Certificate.
Erin Wilbur first began practicing to ease back pain and build core strength, but found herself falling in love with every aspect of yoga. Tula quickly became a second home to her and she enrolled in the teacher training program in order to deepen her practice and expand her teaching portfolio from dance and aerobics to include hatha and vinyasa flow classes. Her teacher training was completed at Tula under Isabel, Grace, Alysa and Sarah and she is thrilled to be a part of the staff who have been so essential in helping her realize her potential as an instructor. Erin works in advertising by day so is no stranger to stress and tension - she encourages everyone to make time for yoga in their lives and realizes how special it is to be able to leave the "real world" at the door and give yourself some quality time to connect with your deeper self at Tula.
Audrey-Anne Simard began her practice early in 2002 in search for a non-competitive solution to fitness and explored Power Yoga and Vinyasa classes in her native Montreal. What she truly discovered is a whole new way of living, a new-found consciousness through the movement and the breath. She persisted under her mentor Lyne St-Roch and followed her to different yoga retreats and workshops around the world. As an Hatha and Vinyasa certified instructor, Audrey sees yoga as a trusted recipe for self-awareness ultimately leading to health and personal growth. Her teaching is infused with intention and encourages the student to reconnect with his inner beauty and strength. Afterwards, Ginger continued exploring Yoga, first practicing Bikrams in Vancouver, and then diverging into other forms. Ginger practices Hatha, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa yoga. For Ginger all forms of Yoga serve as pathways toward self-awareness and further discovery. She loves to create a safe and positive environment where her students are encouraged to explore their own edges. She is passionate to share her knowledge of yoga and to learn and grow from her students.
Vanessa Heeney began her yoga practice in 2004. Since her first hot hatha class, yoga has grown into her life and has presented many exciting opportunities. Vanessa completed her 200hr teacher training at Tula Studios focusing on Hatha and Vinyasa style yoga. Since then, she completed training with Mark Laham in core strengthening and is certified to teach both Yin Yoga and Kids Yoga. The goal of each of her classes is to create space and strength in our bodies taking all the successes off the mat into our day-to-day lives. She loves teaching flow style classes and creating a positive and playful environment where all levels are encouraged to smile, focus and challenge themselves. She also enjoys teaching Yin style yoga classes, which create a valuable balance to the more commonly practiced dynamic flowing ‘yang’ styles. Vanessa leads students through a Yin style class focusing on lengthening and increasing range of motion in the body while also fostering patience and relaxation. Excited about the path before her, Vanessa hopes to share the sense of freedom yoga has shown her with her students.
Lily Gavanski has a gymnastics background and being a sport enthusiast her whole life, she enjoys challenging herself both physically and mentally. In 2003 she discovered Bikram and Power Yoga as a way to supplement her workout routine. After only the first few classes priorities shifted, and spending time on her mat became a daily commitment. For the next seven years she dedicated herself to learning and practicing the art of combining the mind, body, and spirit. In 2010 Lily’s life journey brought her to Tula Yoga Spa, where she completed the 200 hours Teacher Training Program under Isabel Lambert that profoundly changed her life. She combines her love of yoga with knowledge of alignment and body mechanism. Her goal is to find opportunities to empower, motivate and guide others in achieving their own personal goals, both on and off the mat. Lily is certified in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga and she continues to be an extremely dedicated student and teacher.
Sacha Bradley first found her love for yoga when recovering from a back-breaking (literally!) car crash ten years ago. In yoga she discovered not only a highly powerful new practice to help her regain her mobility but also a new sense of peace, a re-calibration of body and spirit and warm, loving communities. She entered Tula’s Teacher Training Program to deepen her practice and became open to the joy and satisfaction of teaching and making yoga an even greater part of her life. In addition to her Tula Training, Sacha is also trained in Yin Yoga and Kids Yoga. She has great love for the energy exchange that occurs in yoga, so she creates a warm, fun and upbeat tone to her classes that aims to bring out everyone’s joyful inner yogi!

anna farago Fitness and exercise has always been high on Anna Farago's priority list and her first yoga class was just another class stuck between a weight training session and a spin class. She'd like to say she left her first yoga class feeling enlightened, but that would be lying. Anne left feeling sweaty and satisfied with a good workout. To her, it was the current fitness gimmick and it remained that way for a few years. The fact that Anne's first yoga experience did not blow her away has been indicative of her entire experience with yoga this far. Just when Anne thought she have got everything under control, she woke up one day and realize, she has got it all wrong. Using yoga classes as just another way to get in an hour of exercise was not at all what she needed. Anne knew how to take care of her body, she had that under control; what Anne needed was to take care of her mind and spirit. It took a few years and many sweaty classes, before Anne realized that yoga is not something she was giving to herself; yoga is something she give herself to. Being healthy is not an individual pursuit. Health includes a collective consciousness. Anne believes a state of being is contagious and therefore she don't teach yoga to inspire others, she teach yoga because she had been inspired by others. As her teacher once said to her, "Yoga is meant to kick your ego, not your butt" and that is definitely what yoga has done for her. As old habits die hard, Anne still enjoy being physically challenged on her mat. Anne's classes tend to reflect that habit, but she also like to infuse elements for the mind and spirit, just in case someone in her class is ready to listen. As Buddha said, "When the student is ready, the teacher will come."

Darcy Ballantyne first discovered yoga in 2005 while studying for her PhD in English Literature at York University. She immersed herself in her yoga practice as a way to strengthen the link between body and mind—and get out of the research library! As her own yoga practice grew and deepened, she realized she wanted to integrate yoga into her life in a more meaningful way by studying the practical and philosophical aspects of yoga. Darcy became a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor in early 2011, completed a Joga™ Teacher Training program in 2012 and will soon be a certified Joga™ instructor. She teaches in various venues, including yoga studios, fitness facilities and private settings at both hot and regular temperatures.
