Microdermabrasion is a specialized treatment facial that is performed in spas, doctor’s offices and medical clinics. It is a deep exfoliating treatment that partially or completely removes the stratum corneum, the outermost surface layer of the skin.
There are different methods of Microdermabrasion which include mechanical abrasion using zinc oxide, aluminium oxide crystals, fine organic particles or a roughened surface. The most common and effective method of Microdermabrasion is the use of a diamond tip wand which is used to create the mechanical abrasion, paired with a slight suction that assists in removing the dead skin cells that have been sloughed off by the diamond tip. It is a painless effective procedure in rejuvenating the skin.
Microdermabrasion is most effective when done in a series of treatments ranging from 3 to 6 depending on skin types and concerns. There is no down time and you can get back to your daily routine immediately after treatment.
When removing this layer of skin by abrasion, sun-damage, scars and age spots are minimized or removed completely. It is also very beneficial in revitalizing dull skin, reducing large pores and fine lines, ridding the skin of acne scars and mild pigmentation irregularities.
